Labneh

(Labaneh, lebneh, labna…) Labneh is a soft white cheese made with yoghurt, which gives it a light "lemon" flavour. It is called Labneh in the Middle-East, but its name varies depending on the country where it's made : Chakka (India), Skyr (Iceland), Mastou (Iraq), Sakoulas (Greece), etc. In the Middle-East, labneh is mostly served with bread, but it is also used in the preparation of dips with garlic, herbs (mint and parsley), cucumbers, olive oil, etc. It's a very versatile cheese.

Labneh Balls (or Labneh Anbaris)

This cheese is made with Labneh that has been pressed to extract humidity so that it can be shaped into balls, which are placed into jars filled with vegetable oil. Traditionaly, in the Middle-East, labneh was shaped into balls then placed in the sun to dry. Labneh balls have a sharper yoghurt taste than regular labneh. We make thyme, mint and cayenne pepper varieties. Plain is also available.
