Our story

The adventure of the Fromagerie Polyethnique began in 1992 by a encounter between Lebanese merchants and a group of local farmers. Incorporated in 1993, Fromagerie Polyethnique is born! Construction begins in 1994 and production starts in 1995. An extension was built in 2002, adding 8200 sq ft to the existing building. This extension allowed the Fromagerie to increase its production.


The organization

Fromagerie Polyethnique is owned by two farming businesses from Saint-Robert. One of them is owned by Yves, Alain and Marc Latraverse and the other is owned by Jean-Pierre Salvas. Fromagerie Polyethnique employs about 20 persons. Aside production, there is a quality control/quality assurance laboratory and a research and development department.

HACCP

Fromagerie Polyethnique truly believes in providing dairy products that are made respecting all regulations concerning food hygiene and safety. HACCP, or Hazard Analysis by Critical Control Points, is a self-management system for food hygiene and safety known around the world. Fromagerie Polyethnique is currently in the process of obtaining its HACCP accreditation with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

Environment

Fromagerie Polyethnique wants to minimize its impact on the environment. We are working to reduce our water consumption in order to save potable water and to reduce the volume of our effluents. We have our own aerated lagoons water treatment system, which allow us to treat our wastewater before releasing it in nature. Our water treatment system also includes a phosphorus removal system.
