La Fromagerie Polyethnique
Our history
A story born of a need... and an encounter
It all started less than 80 km from Montreal, with a clear objective: to ensure the continuity of our dairy farms by moving away from the traditional cheddar niche. We wanted to stand out from the crowd with a meaningful niche product.
One day, one of the four founders stumbled into a Lebanese grocery store. While chatting with the shopkeeper, he heard the phrase that was to change everything:
"You have cows, I have a grocery store... but I can't find the cheeses from my village."
From this chance meeting arose a real opportunity. On the one hand, we wanted to secure our milk quotas. On the other, this community wanted to rediscover the authentic flavors of its roots. The idea of creating a cheese factory to serve the ethnic communities established here was born.
But how do you make cheeses that few people knew about at the time? The answer: learn from the best. With this in mind, we invited grandmothers into our little factory to share their recipes, their techniques, and above all, their stories. With great humility, we took notes, did tests, adjusted flavors, then offered samples to customers.
Until the day they told us:
"Thank you... this is exactly the taste we were hoping to find."
That's when we realized we were doing much more than making cheese: we were building bridges between cultures, one bite at a time.
Our heritage
A family affair
Behind Fromagerie Polyethnique, there's first and foremost a family, attached to its land... and its values.
From generation to generation, this family adventure has evolved into a collective project, where yesterday's children have become today's builders. A solid succession, driven by the same passion: to do things with heart, respect and pride.
Because in the end, what we've been making since the beginning isn't just cheese. They're links. Landmarks. Stories of taste, shared around the same table.
